Yesterday President Joe Biden commented on the new Texas law that restricts abortions after six weeks of gestation.
President Biden said the law “blatantly” violated Roe v. Wade without bothering to point out that abortion rights would be less vulnerable to attack by states like Texas if the ERA were in the Constitution.
Yet Joe Biden himself is blocking the ERA and continuing to fight against Women’s equality in two federal lawsuits.
People who care about abortion rights know very well that if Women had full Equal Protection rights under the Fourteenth Amendment, all their rights, including abortion, would be better protected against encroachments like the law in Texas.
We need the Equal Rights Amendment to correct the deliberate exclusion of Women from the 14th Amendment and provide us with the umbrella of equal legal protection.
Yet Joe Biden is intentionally blocking the ERA and fighting against it and us in court, while claiming to care about abortion rights.
Here are the facts:
The so-called deadline on the Equal Rights Amendment is unconstitutional; thus void from the beginning because it wasn’t in the text of the amendment.
Biden can instruct the Archivist to PUBLISH the ERA TODAY.
AG Garland can withdraw the Barr Memo today.
Enough is enough. Without basic constitutional equality Women and their rights are disappearing.
In the nearly 50 years since Women won hard-fought abortion rights in Roe, and educational Civil Rights in Title IX, those rights have been weakened and restricted BECAUSE they were not rooted in a foundation of full Equal Protection rights for Women.
Since Equal Protection rights affect ALL rights, Joe Biden’s decision to block the ERA and fight against it in court is partly responsible for what happened to Texas.
Today the head of our “Justice” Department, Attorney General Merrick Garland said, “The Justice Department is deeply concerned about Texas SB8. We are evaluating all options to protect the constitutional rights of women, including access to an abortion.”
REALLY?! That’s rich. Give me a break. This is the same AG who has literally ignored women’s calls to rescind the illegal Barr OLC Memo to the U.S. Archivist and publish the ERA.
LOVE how these guys can talk out of both sides of their mouths and get away with it.
If Biden cares about women, if the U.S. Government cares about women, then stop denying us the equal rights and equal protections under law we need to fight back against rampant sex discrimination and violence.
President Biden – don’t you DARE say you care about women when you refuse to acknowledge our legal equality – won through a century of blood, sweat and tears.
Don’t’ try and stay on the female bandwagon to get your party through the next election cycle. You have let us down.
Worse than that, President Biden, you are actively harming us and continuing to do so every day that you don’t publish ERA and stop fighting us in court.
And AG Garland – go play golf with David Ferriero – seems like what’s been going on so far.
Bottom line, equality warriors: We find ourselves fighting against a tidal wave of hypocrisy, corruption, collusion and MONEY around keeping women legally and physically subjugated by those that we have entrusted to fight by our side.
But we’re not going anywhere. Last warning to all feminist frauds and colluders – gloves are off.
