On May 7th, the Rules Committee of the Illinois House of Delegates will hold a hearing on the Equal Rights Amendment and Equal Means Equal will be there to represent the millions of women who cannot wait for equal rights any longer.
Then on May 8th, in Springfield, we will urge that the House vote on the matter. Join us in making herstory.

And finally, we’d like to give a very special thanks to EME’s Jules Wood, who advocated on our behalf to Eugenia Kusmina & Bill Block. The industry power couple hosted an important awareness-raising event in their lovely Hollywood home in support of Equal Means Equal and the ERA.

Kuzmina comments, “I live in the house where John Lennon wrote “Imagine” and it feels like the perfect place and time to raise the consciousness and awareness of influencers on a human level about the unfinished business of equality for all Americans under the Constitution.”
“It is extremely heartening to see Hollywood embrace the Equal Rights Amendment and help push for final ratification in the last two states. This event began an important industry dialogue that will have far reaching effects on the global population of women and girls. It is fitting that the entertainment industry, proudly progressive on the whole, would champion a Constitutional amendment that would finally see all Americans as equal under law,” said Kamala Lopez, Executive Director of Equal Means Equal & President of Heroica Films.
We are nearing the finish line in Illinois – we need everyone to do whatever they can to urge the Illinois House of Delegates to vote “yes” on ERA! Please see previous newsletter for links to urgent actions items: https://equalmeansequal.org/
Thank you for your continuing support and commitment to equality for all.
With love and gratitude,
