FINAL IMPACT IGNITES IN MICHIGAN!
Volunteer Dennis Baur and Linda DeVillez spend many hours with Kamala & Joel recruiting people to join the fight for the ERA by getting their picture taken for the art installation. Traverse City Film Festival Executive Director, Angie Forton, and her staff at the State Theater (Glenn, Austin, Trista and many more) put their shoulder to the wheel to help us create an incredible community action for FINAL IMPACT for the ERA. We are so grateful to all of them for their help and support!
Since Equal Means Equal‘s premiere in 2016, the three final states (Nevada, Illinois and Virginia) have ratified the Equal Rights Amendment and we are now simply fighting for the U.S. Government to stop its’ illegal blockage of the fully ratified 28th Amendment. This past week, Michael Moore welcomed Kamala back to Traverse City, eight years after the film’s release.
The trajectory of the EQUAL MEANS EQUAL movement really took flight when the film won Best US Documentary at the Traverse City Film Festival and began hundreds of screenings and house parties across the country,
re-educating, activating, organizing and mobilizing women and our allies to pick up the fight once more for the ERA!
Listen below to Michael’s introduction of Kamala, and her speech before the film about where we are with the ERA:
Fems for Democracy co-founders Lori Goldman & Julie-Campbell Bode bring the heat and their team to join EME’s Joel Marshall, Kamala Lopez and Still Working 9 to 5 Producer Camille Hardman along with Traverse City Film Festival Supporters Paula Jo & Jaime Kemler from the Green Brick Foundation
In Traverse City, EQUAL MEANS EQUAL successfully launched the FINAL IMPACT Campaign for the ERA in Michigan, bringing on the teams from Fems for Democracy, Indivisible, Distill Social and equality warriors across the state who are gearing up to do dozens of activations across the state to ensure the ERA is published before November!
Here’s an example of what you could say/text: President Biden, please PUBLISH the EQUAL RIGHTS AMENDMENT before November. It’s just a three-minute call from you to Colleen Shogan, the U.S. Archivist, and it will be done. Women will be so grateful and it will ensure your legacy as our most important and beloved President! You have nothing to lose and women have everything to gain! Equal pay, bodily autonomy, the equal protection of our laws and so much more! Thank you
P.S. Mark your calendar! Please join us tomorrow for a Virtual ERA Party where EME’s Legal Counsel Wendy Murphy and EME President Kamala Lopez will join women’s rights groups, activists, lawyers & candidates, supporting & celebrating what the ERA represents & can do for the United States & women when finally published as the 28th amendment. THANK YOU!
WITH LOVE AND GRATITUDE,
The EQUAL MEANS EQUAL Team
