Stand with Equal Means Equal and Special Guests* as we
“Shatter the Silence”
Sunday November 12th from 11am to 12pm on the Washington Mall
Honor the Centennial Anniversary of the 1917 Suffrage Night of Terror
& Join Us For the Official Launch of the 2017 Silent Sentinel Challenge
Meet at 10:30am at Catharsis on the Mall – the Abraxas Dragon
NW side of the Washington Monument – corner of 17th and Constitution Ave.
The original 2000 protesters stood out in front of the White House for two and a half years. They were dismissed, ridiculed, harassed, arrested, beaten and tortured. It was the most effective action the women’s movement ever took.
Ultimately this protest action by “the ladies” delivered the only right guaranteed to women in the Constitution – the right to vote.
A hundred years later, we are stalled out — still without equal rights and protections under federal law.
We have to do it again and we need to get serious about it.

Please sign up here for an hour shift Monday – Saturday (10am-6pm) and get your friends to do it too.
Be there. Show up. We can do this!
Monday through Saturday, every day from 10am to 6pm, at the entrance to the White House, women and our allies will stand in silent protest against the lack of any meaningful forward progress for American women & girls and demand ERA Ratification now.
Equal Means Equal will provide the sashes and the banners, protesters should wear their own black coats and hats, please.
For all of those out there crafty enough to make a Pussy Hat, please feel free to make your own Suffrage Sash and have a bit of fun with the sayings! Make sure you take a selfie on your shift and tag it #SilentSentinelChallenge #equalmeansequal so we can put it up on our Instagram and show off your genius!
And remember – eyes on the prize – we need all unratified states to vote on ERA in this NEXT (2017/2018) LEGISLATIVE SESSION so we can use our one right, secured for us by the brave ladies of 1917, and VOTE in November of 2018 with our eyes wide open in terms of who stands with us and who is against equality.
100 YEARS HAS GONE BY. THAT’S LONG ENOUGH. THERE ARE NO MORE EXCUSES.
Thanks and love,
Kamala, Natalie, Wendy and the EME Team
