New Year’s resolution: pass the E.R.A in 2018

By Kamala Lopez and Natalie White

We have great news to tell you, Tuesday, January 9th will mark the 50th day of our vigil in front of the White House! We have been going strong to honor the silent sentinels and 100 years later we are still asking for the inclusion of the Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. This time we are not giving up until we get the final two states we need this year.

Virginia is one of our most important battleground states in the fight to ratify the E.R.A. Equal means Equal will be very active in Virginia in the upcoming weeks starting with taking our vigil and fight to Richmond on January 11th.

Join us beginning January 11th, as we take our vigil and fight to the Virginia legislature standing strong in front of the Pocahontas building on 900 East Main Street, Richmond Virginia 23219 every day from 10 am to 6 pm Monday-Friday.

Check out our 2 billboards on 1-95 on the east and west sides of the highway. Every single legislator in the state of Virginia will pass those billboards going to and from work. We hope it will convince them to pull the E.R.A out of committee and put it up for a vote right away.

There will be a screening of Equal Means Equal at the Byrd Theatre in Richmond at 6:45 pm on January 16th, both Kamala and I will be there and hope to see you there.

And finally, we are holding a rally on January 17th at 8 am and we need equality warriors on the east coast to come and show their support. We will provide banners, signs, sashes and other materials – you just need to bring your body.

We can’t do this without you! Please show up in Virginia and help us take the ERA across the finish line.

Please support our vigil. Visit our online art auction. Each week, we are showcasing artists who not only share our vision for equality but have donated artwork to help raise funds for our actions. Come like us on Facebook if you would like to be notified of the new pieces up for auction.

All our love,

Natalie White & Kamala
